TRUMPET CALL TO LATE BLOOMERS

“He’s old and he needs to get out of the way and sit down!” That’s what an employee said about the guy she was supposed to be training for a new job.  What she didn’t know was that he owned the business and she was on the Undercover Boss TV show.  It was funny because he was disguised as an older man and he was messing up pretty bad!

The show got me to thinking about late bloomers.   A late bloomer is a person who doesn’t develop their strengths as early as some of their peers. Their talents or abilities are not visible to others until later than usual.

One of the passions of my heart can be heard in a trumpet call to those who “are not finished yet”; those who still have a lot of unfulfilled potential.
It is never too late bloom and you’re never too old to blossom into something beautiful to behold.
I was thinking about the word “potential”. We all have it but most of us only tap into the surface of what we could do or become. We allow our circumstances to dictate to us or allow other people’s perception to tell us who we are. We don’t push past the barriers beyond “what is” to “what could be.” That sense of what “could be” is a yearning and a knowing that there is more in you than anybody knows.

We should listen to the desires and callings within us.  That is potential talking.  When we learn to listen to it, we begin to follow our destiny.  Why don’t we listen to it?  Why isn’t our potential manifesting?  Consider these four ideas:

POTENTIAL – an ability that someone has that can be developed to help that person become successful.
  • We do not recognize that we actually have God given potential.
  •  (All things are possible to him that believes Mk 9:23)

SELF-IMAGE – the way you think about yourself and your abilities or mental representation of oneself.
  • We have a faulty self-image because we do not see ourselves as God sees us
  • (God called Gideon a mighty man of valor but his self-image was not aligned with God’s image of him Judges 6:12)

VISION – something that you imagine: a picture that you see in your mind; an act of looking forward.
  • We can’t see where we are going in the future.
  • (Expect God’s plans to be manifested in our lives - Jeremiah 29:11)

MOTIVATION – the condition of being eager to act or work.
  • We are afraid to take a risk or are too comfortable to do the required work.
  • (Nehemiah was not daunted by opposition or the work because he had purpose Nehemiah 2:18; 4:6)

Some of the most satisfying things that I have done in life have been “late”.  I’m still enjoying the journey and I’m eager to see what’s coming next. Whose timetable are you on? It’s never too late to bloom.

THE POWER OF A DECISION

Walk Into Your Wealthy Place
I saw a sign today that said, “Change is a process not an event.” I totally agree with that but I have been musing over a phrase that keeps running through my mind recently:
“CHANGE STARTS WITH A DECISION.” It seems too simple to be true, but it is!

Are you unhappy with what is happening in your life? Are you being bombarded with negative situations? Are you doing what everyone else wants you to do but not what you desire to do?  Are you stuck in the past? Do you have a dream hidden inside you and you think you have missed your opportunity? Are you just sick and tired of being sick and tired? Do you feel that you are not in charge of your life?

THIS IS NOT MY DESTINY

You can change that! Make up your mind that this unhappy or unfulfilling state of being is not your portion or your destiny. Decide that you will not allow it to dominate and dictate your life.  You know what you want your life to look like. Go after it!

Your inheritance is already laid out for you in black and white – in the Word of God.  You don’t have to guess or wonder about it - but you do have to take ownership of what belongs you.  You have to believe it, agree with it, declare it and act on it.

GET AN ATTITUDE

Say it! -- Purpose is mine (1), peace is mine (2), abundance is mine (3), joy is mine (4) health is mine (5) and I will not accept anything less. Once you make that decision, you have made the change.  Don’t turn back.  Walk on into your wealthy place (6) with the attitude “this belongs to me.” The blood of Jesus purchased it.

YOU’RE IN CONTROL

Count the change as already done, even if circumstances don’t appear to change immediately. Walk out the process with great expectation because you have changed and you’re in charge; everything else will follow.

Communicate with God through worship, prayer, and the Word so you can download updates and strategies to maintain the changes that you commanded - through your decision. Your decision will bring out the best in you.
